Exhibit habitats
Exhibits are the smallest and cheapest enclosure type, and the one most often placed without reading the species record.
46 species accept an exhibit in the current Zoopedia: invertebrates, amphibians, small reptiles and similar animals that do not need a full habitat.
What an exhibit still checks
- Temperature — published per species, and the Moon Jelly record shows how narrow these bands can be (9–19 °C).
- Group size — small numbers, but still enforced. The Moon Jelly lists 1–3.
- Substrate and cover — exhibit-specific values where the record publishes them.
- Food cost — exhibits are cheap to build but not free to run.
Exhibits and conservation work
Several exhibit species are critically endangered, including the Axolotl from the Deluxe Upgrade Pack. Small housings are therefore a reasonable way to keep a threatened bloodline going while the bigger habitats are being built.
Placement checklist
- Read the species record before placing the housing.
- Set the temperature band in the housing panel, not by room temperature.
- Check the group cap — some exhibit species are strictly solitary.
- Place exhibits along a guest path, since they are viewed at close range.
- Re-check after patches: exhibit fixes appear in the 1.0.4 notes.
FAQ
Common questions about this topic.
Which animals go in exhibits?
Species whose Zoopedia record lists an exhibit enclosure type — 46 of the 136 species at capture time.
Are exhibits worth building in Franchise?
Yes, especially for endangered small species: they cost little space and can support breeding programmes.
Do exhibits need staff?
They need care like any habitat, but the workload is much smaller than a terrestrial habitat of the same value.
