Building
Utilities and staff facilities
Utilities are the invisible half of a habitat: power, water and staff access. The patch notes show which parts were fragile at launch.
The Zoopedia does not publish utility numbers, so this page sticks to what the official notes confirm and what the build menu exposes in game.
- Place facilities on the staff path network before animals arrive; retrofitting paths is expensive.
- Water treatment and filtration belong to aquarium habitats; keep the access area clear.
- 1.0.5 fixed settings and menu focus issues that made facility management feel broken.
| Area | State after 1.0.5 |
|---|---|
| Power and water coverage | Not published in the Zoopedia — check the in-game overlays |
| Staff facilities (keeper, vet) | Placement bugs fixed (vet surgery no longer moves) |
| Paths and staff access | Affects whether care actually happens |
| Heatmap and inspection feedback | Inspection scoring fixed in 1.0.5 |
FAQ
FAQ
Common questions about this topic.
Are utility costs published?
No. This site does not invent running-cost numbers; the build menu and the finance panel are authoritative.
Why are keepers not reaching a habitat?
Usually a path gap or a locked gate — check staff access before assuming a bug.
Do utilities differ by enclosure type?
Aquariums add filtration and water systems; the rest are shared infrastructure.
